So the reason I wanted to be a dentist is because I had a dentist, I used to go visit my dentist, and I was very inspired by him. And he had 10 different chairs of different kind and used to tell me, “Hop on the chair.” And that was back in Dubai. Like, you know, the setup and everything. As I grew up, there was once a bus that came in. I was from a dental school, and that was the first time I saw females as a dentist. And I was like, “Wow, females can do that.” So, I was like, “Okay, I think I want to be that.” And I was very little at that time.
Growing up, I come from a family of physicians, all my siblings are physicians, and I was like, “Yay, that’s great, but I wanna do something different.” So, I decided to be a dentist, and that is what I really wanted to be. The most rewarding part, I think, is changing the smiles of people’s life, making them happy, taking the stress out of their life, removing that picture that they have about the dentist, fearful, removing that, you know, giving them pain-free treatment. And at the end of the day, they’re happy. That’s what makes a difference.
Dr. Asma Zia
Dr. Asma Zia is dedicated to excellence in dental care and has been in the field for more than 10 years. She has completed her postdoctoral program in the latest American Dental Association-recognized dental specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR) from the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine. While studying at the University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC), she worked extensively with The Center for Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry in reading 3-D cone beam scans and reporting her findings.
Dr. Zia has also served as the resident dentist at St. Mary Hospital, which is affiliated with Yale University’s School of Medicine. All the while, she participated extensively in community outreach programs. Dr. Zia had the privilege of working in a hospital setting, including the emergency room and operating room. She managed many types of emergencies ranging from excruciating tooth pain to jaw fractures. While in the clinic, she routinely focused on enhancing the smiles of many happy clients.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Virginia Dental Society. Dr.Zia is also an Invisalign Preferred Provider.

I recently switched to Smiles & Dental Care. Dr. Zia is great! She is so knowledgeable, caught things that other dentists have not noticed, and helps to answer any questions. I’ve had dentists in the past dismiss TMJ related concerns, and Dr. Zia made me feel heard, and has solutions. I was skeptical about Botox for TMJ, & Dr. Zia gave me time to think about it first. It worked wonders immediately. The pain was gone!
Everyone at the office takes the time to get to know you and remember things about you upon return. Michelle at the front desk is great about following up, checking on insurance related items, and making you feel well taken care of at the administrative level. I will definitely continue to come here!
Great cleaning done by Dr. Zia, she thoroughly examined my teeth by taking x-rays and using instruments to search for cavities, the team worked together to create a treatment plan that worked for me which was great! Dr.Zia listens to my concerns and lays out a plan, so i have trust in her to make the best plan for my teeth! A scan was taken for my teeth and now i’m starting invisalign! def do and will continue to be treated by Dr.Zia and her team!

Dr. Zia is an Amazing Dentist. She is patient and understanding and very thorough when it comes to the care of her patients. I have always felt that she is approachable as she takes the time to explain procedures and the complicated aspects of dentistry and she is very accommodating when it comes to schedule (with accommodating hours / times and a great and convenient location). She has gone out of her way to make matters right regardless of how taxing it has been on her time or if it required multiple visits. She has an incredible network of specialty dentists that have helped me with my case which turned out to be great fits for me long term. I would recommend her as a very qualified doctor in her field and not to hesitate when considering her as your dentist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Zia’s for 3 years now, and I can say she works hard to alleviate the anxious feeling that comes along with going to the Dentist! Her staff and manager always strive to make me feel comfortable for my appointments. The COVID protocol at the office is well implemented, so it truly makes me feel relieved and everything is always clean and hygienic. Recently I came in for botox to help relieve the TMJ headaches that I get from stress. I was skeptical at first as to how effective it would be, but I must say the results speak for themselves! I used to have to take ibuprofen almost daily for my headaches but for the 8 months it’s been since my injections, I haven’t needed any at all! Truly so pleased because it made studying for my MCAT so much easier since my stress for the exam was no longer giving me painful headaches. I could not recommend Dr. Zia or the botox enough, truly so content with my experience!
